As many of you already know, I am the proud father of two beautiful boys, which some of you may have already met, Samuel (5 years old) and Graeson (3 years old).

“Quan” -
Funny story ... I really feel that Jesus began to speak to me through a movie and if I gave you three guesses, I would be impressed if you were able to guess the movie. Two minor scenes in the movie Jerry Maguire spoke to me at such a core level that it began to define what I wanted to live for. Don’t worry, it wasn’t the “show me the money” scene! It was the scene that Cuba Gooding, Jr.’s character said, “some people may have the coin, but I have the Quan,” and then at the end of the movie he said to Tom Cruise’s character, “Jerry, you are my Ambassador of Quan”.
I am getting goose bumps as I write this, kind of cool knowing that the Lord is working with me, through me.
From my research, there is no such word or definition, so I felt the need to define it for myself. Quan is a true love for life, a true love for self, and a true love for others. Love at a level consistent with the amount of love that God has for us, demonstrated through the giving of his only son, our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Why share this story? Because Quan is what I strive for on a daily basis and a concept that I hope the community of Good Sam will learn to embrace. Who knows, perhaps we will all consider ourselves Quanifers, disciples of this concept of LOVE!! |
Things to Come
- Mark your calendars as there is a Good Sam Youth Group Town Hall Meeting coming to your neighborhood! Our objective is simple; (a) get to know each other a little better, (b) brainstorm ideas for the upcoming year, and (c) begin the process of identifying the type of energy we want to define our Youth Group as this year is truly our launching point. I strongly encourage the parents to join in the fun as well.
- By the end of the summer, we will have completed a detailed strategic plan that will allow us to effectively and efficiently make the dreams we identify for our Youth Group a reality.
